Organic vs. Non-Organic Fenugreek Tea

BuddhaTeas Fenugreek Tea Organic Vs. Non-OrganicIn recent years organic choices have become more widely available to us in the market. There are many articles that have sprung up as a result which debate the differences between organic and non-organic choices. While some claim that there are no differences between the two, there are others who will claim otherwise.

As a result, there are many that are left wondering which choice truly is the better one. By learning more about the differences between these two choices you can better understand which choice may be better for you.

What is Organic?

Any products that are labeled as organic have to be certified by government approved inspectors after they have met the standard requirements. The certifier will ensure that produce that claims itself as organic is growing according to the necessary rules that are required to have met the USDA standards. Something that is organic will be labeled with a USDA seal. In order for something to be considered organic it must be grown or produced with organic ingredients. Animals that are grown organically are not given any hormones or antibiotics to speed their growth. Organic produce must be grown without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or fungicides. Organic farmers ensure that their methods conserve land and water, preventing the harmful run off that is often produced from traditional farms.

Are Organic Choices Healthier?

Although there are some that have claimed that organic produce is healthier than non organic choices, there are no studies yet that can back these claims. There are some believe that the nutrients found in organic foods are the same as those found in non-organic foods. Others have a strong belief that organic choices are higher in vitamin content. Until more research is released, there is no way to know which is truly right. However, depending on your taste, there are some that find organic produce to be more flavorful than conventional produce.

Advantages of Organic Choices

Regardless of the vitamin and nutrient content that can be found in organic choices, there are still many other advantages to making organic choices. Food that is produced organically has a much better effect on the environment. Conventional farming methods lead to erosion of the soil, which depletes the land used to grow crops. This causes a decrease in organic matter that is found in the soil and a loss to the land’s ability to hold water properly. This leads to many biological problems in the environment. Furthermore, the constant use of chemical pesticides, fungicides, and insecticides can run off and get into our water systems, poisoning the environment. Furthermore, many pests that begin to grow a resistance to these pesticides lead to the use of even stronger chemicals, some of which are considered some of the most toxic chemicals in the world. The large amount of chemicals and pesticides negatively affect our economy as well, leading to costs of over $40 billion dollars in the United States alone.

Organic farms concentrate on the conservation of soil and water, without making use of harmful chemicals and fertilizers that can be detrimental to our environment. Organic foods and produce are sometimes priced a little higher than conventional products because a lot more effort and time needs to go into growing things organically. However, when these costs are compared to the costs of damage caused by the depletion of the environment by traditional farming methods, it may seem like a small price to pay in order to prevent long term damage to our land and economy.
