Fenugreek Tea: Arthritis
For centuries, fenugreek seeds have been used for both culinary and medicinal purposes. It natively grows in areas of the Mediterranean, southern Europe, and Western Asia. In ancient Egypt it was used for its medicinal properties as well as for embalming rituals. Today, fenugreek is still commonly used for both culinary purposes and as an herbal remedy. When brewed into a tea, fenugreek can help alleviate many common health problems such as arthritis.
Overview of Arthritis
Arthritis occurs when one or more joints in the body become inflamed. Although most cases of arthritis develop with old age along with the breaking down of the cartilage, some can experience arthritis in younger years as well. The breakdown of cartilage leads to bones rubbing against one another and less shock being absorbed which can result in feelings of stiffness and pain. Other symptoms include redness and swelling. Usually arthritis cannot be fully cured, however there are steps that can be taken to help reduce the pain, swelling, and other symptoms that come along with it.
Using Fenugreek Tea
Fenugreek tea may be an effective way of alleviating some of the symptoms that tag along with arthritis. This herbal remedy contains diosgenin which is a naturally occurring constituent in some plants that can help reduce the occurrence of inflammation. Studies have also shown that fenugreek has a way of mildly inhibiting the worsening of arthritis, which can help stall it from developing to more painful stages. Fenugreek tea can also be applied externally to the spot using a cloth to help reduce inflammation and pain.
